Our Lockbox service is a payment collection and processing service by which a customer’s return is bar-coded for remittance to an Atlanta, Georgia postal box. Included on the coupon are the customer’s account number, payment amount, and payment due date. During processing, each payment is imaged, endorsed, submitted for clearance, and deposited. A data file is then created containing information gathered from the OCR (Optical Character Recognition) scan line on the payment coupon.

On each business day, we electronically transmit your payment and returned check data and update your local customer-billing database. This service will decrease the traffic flow at the utilities office, lower the labor cost associated with batch posting, decrease the amount of posting mistakes, and in many cases accelerate the funds being deposited into your local financial institution. Our estimates show that you can save .05 to .07 per payment by outsourcing this mundane task.
